Elite amateurs and professional golfers are having to grapple with the recent announcement by the R&A and USGA about limiting the average driving distance of golf balls.
The rule makers are preposing that, from 2026, certain elite events will be subject of a Model Local Rule (MLR).
It will mean use of a tournament approved golf ball, one that won't 'fly' quite as far as the big hitters are currently launching some monster drives.
